One Portal Operation (OPO) (2023)

One Portal Operation (OPO) (2023)

Project Overview:

The One Portal Operation (OPO) project involved designing an intuitive, responsive interface for a Network Cloud monitoring system used across both public and private organizations. The primary goal of this project was to streamline the monitoring process of complex cloud infrastructures and enhance operational efficiency for technical and non-technical users alike.

I led the project design and planning, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that the final product not only met technical specifications but also prioritized user-centered design principles.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Lead UX/UI Designer: Responsible for spearheading the design process, from initial concept development to final implementation.
  • Design Planning: Developed the overall design strategy and roadmap to align with user needs, business goals, and technical requirements.
  • Team Collaboration: Worked alongside software engineers, cloud architects, and project managers to create a scalable and efficient system.

Challenges:

  1. Complexity of the System: The primary challenge was the highly technical nature of cloud monitoring systems. Non-technical users struggled with understanding data analytics and visualizations. Therefore, I focused on simplifying the user interface without compromising on functionality.
  2. Multi-Platform Support: The system needed to be accessible on both web and mobile platforms. This required a responsive design that could seamlessly adapt to different screen sizes and devices, while maintaining a cohesive user experience.

Design Process:

1. User Research & Personas:

  • Conducted interviews and surveys with both technical staff and non-technical stakeholders to identify their pain points and requirements.
  • Created user personas to ensure the system addressed the needs of both groups—such as IT administrators needing in-depth metrics and executive decision-makers requiring high-level reports.

2. Wireframes & Prototyping:

  • Developed wireframes to outline the structure and functionality of the interface.
  • Used tools like Figma to create interactive prototypes, allowing stakeholders to provide feedback early in the design process.

3. UI Design:

  • Designed a clean, modern interface that focused on usability and clarity. This included:
    • Real-time monitoring dashboards with simplified visual data representations (graphs, charts).
    • Customizable alerts and notifications for different user roles.
    • Responsive design for seamless use on desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.
  • Emphasized accessibility by ensuring compliance with WCAG guidelines for contrast, text size, and navigation simplicity.

4. Usability Testing:

  • Conducted usability testing with real users, gathering feedback on the efficiency and intuitiveness of the system.
  • Refined the design based on test results, improving the information architecture and adjusting the user flow for quicker access to critical functions.

Final Outcome:

The One Portal Operation system was successfully deployed across multiple organizations, resulting in:

  • A 30% reduction in system downtime due to improved real-time monitoring capabilities.
  • Higher user adoption rates from both technical and non-technical staff.
  • Positive feedback from stakeholders on the clarity and simplicity of the UI, which allowed them to make quicker, data-driven decisions.
